OSLO10
OSLO1O was an exhibition space made possible by the Christoph Merian Foundation from 2011 to 2017 on the Dreispitz site in Münchenstein near Basel. The Christoph Merian Foundation invited tenders for the curators and selected them in a jury of experts. It provided the curators with a fee and a basic budget for running the exhibition and entrusted them with the administration of the space for two years. The curators were independent in the design and implementation of the program.
OSLO1O was an instrument for the promotion of talented young curators, as well as the promotion of art creation and mediation in the Basel region. Three teams of curators worked in the spaces during the project period.
The OSLO1O project was launched in May 2011 as an interim use of a former warehouse at Oslo-Strasse 10 on the Dreispitz. The area of the former bonded warehouse, formerly a purely commercial area, is now a mixed-use neighborhood with apartments, businesses and a school. This neighborhood is home to numerous art and cultural actors: the House of Electronic Arts Basel, the international scholarship program Atelier Mondial, the alternative Radio X, the FHNW Academy of Art and Design, galleries and numerous studios.
